Carpet Whipping (Edging)
Carpet "Whipping" is a process that puts a 1cm edge to carpets with a continuous yarn that wraps around the edge and the back of the carpet to ensure a long and hard wearing finish. The yarn can be 100% wool or a wool mix and can be provided in colours to complement or contrast with the colour of your carpet, as required.
Any shape or size can be edged and the result is a rug that adds a look of class and elegance to any room, hallway or cosy fireside. Whipping is also ideal for car mats, stairs and boat and caravan runners. Our rugs are the perfect way to enhance a natural wood, laminate or carpeted floor, bringing instant warmth to the heart of your home. Off-cuts of carpets which otherwise might be sent for landfill can add character to your home
We serve both public and trade customers and can work on carpets of any size and colour. A same day service may be provided by prior appointment. We are currently providing a carpet edging service to Colourbank Carpets, John Lewis, Michael John, Red Carpets, United Carpets, Porters Carpets and Sarocap Carpets.
Whipping Yarns: The needle of our whipping machine pierces the carpet 2,800 times a minute. In an 8 hour day the needle will have pierced and withdrawn from the carpet 10 million times reaching a temperature of 450 degrees centigrade as it does so!
